Bonsai – the Living Art of Nature in Miniature

The art of bonsai has a rich history and deep symbolic meaning for many cultures. Learn about the horticultural practices and design approaches to this unique art form, along with aspects of bonsai care and maintenance. Our speaker is C. Richard Bozek, whose interest in trees began in high school. Rich’s professional life included forestry studies and working on environmental policy issues. A bonsai hobbyist for 25 years, Rich has studied the art with some of North America’s most prominent bonsai professionals. He has studied for more than 7 years at Bonsai Mirai, operated by American bonsai professional, Ryan Neil, outside of Portland, OR. Richard is also a graduate of the Ho Yoku School of Bonsai, led by the prominent UK bonsai professional, Colin Lewis.
