November 15: LIGHT AND NATIVE PLANTS. Freedom Park Interpretive Center, 10:00 am, open to the public, $5 donation for each guest is recommended. All plants need light, but how much shade they can tolerate, and how much full sunlight they can bear, determine what plants grow together. Learn about the special adaptations leaves can develop for capturing sunlight in deep shade. This program is presented by Dr. Stewart Ware, Professor Emeritus of Biology at the College of William and Mary who has received numerous awards and is widely published in peer-reviewed literature in botany and dendrology.
