October 15: ECOLOGICAL LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM PLANT AND INSECT INTERACTIONS. Freedom Park Interpretive Center, 10:00 a.m., open to the public. Dr. Shawn Dash, who grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, began collecting and studying specimens from the natural world at a very early age. He has continued in the scientific field through three graduate degrees and currently is working at Hampton University in the Department of Biological Sciences. Shawn will discuss the evolution of plant and insect communities while exploring pollination, herbivory, hyperparasites, and plant defenses. This event is part of the Learn and Grow Educational Series sponsored by the Williamsburg Botanical Garden.
