Two plants with yellow rayed flowers that look like sunflowers are now tall and heavy with blossoms. Oxeye, or False Sunflower, differs from a true sunflower as both the ray and disk flowers form seeds (achenes). Rosinweed produces resinous juices chewed by Amerindian children. Both species bloom a little earlier than true sunflowers.

In the Wetlands, several species of Hibiscus are blooming. Most of the grasses near the entrance sign have formed seedheads: Lovegrass, Switchgrass, and River Oats are the tallest species.
