SUMMARY:Plants with a Purpose 2026 - Honor Box Plant Sale
DESCRIPTION:The Williamsburg Botanical Garden Plant Sale opens April 22nd and runs through May 25th or until all plants are sold. The Master Gardener Plant Sale will also be held here on May 9th. Find plants to support pollinators and other wildlife in your yard and garden. Get email updates when new plants are available Plant Sale Updates. \nPark in the main lot near the Freedom Park Interpretive Center and walk the paved path to the Garden’s entrance that you passed on the way to the parking lot. Directions & Parking  Enter the Garden and take the path to the left to find the plants in front of the shed. \nPlant trays will be available for you to use to carry your purchases to your car. If you purchase large plants or many plants and prefer to drive up to pick them up\, you may go to the Emergency Exit gate which is just past the entrance gate to load your plants. Please do not stop at the entrance to the garden as this will impede the flow of traffic and is a no parking zone. \nPay by Cash or Check in the Pink “Honor Box”- Make checks payable to Williamsburg Botanical Garden   \nPay with Credit or Debit Card using the QR code on the side of the box \nFor More Information

DESCRIPTION:Learn to garden with great plants that thrive in little or no sun. We welcome back Peggy Krapf\, owner of Heart’s Ease Landscape & Garden Design\, to share some great tips on creating a shade garden. \nAbout our speaker: \nPeggy Krapf has been a landscape designer in the Williamsburg\, Virginia area since 1993. She holds a Landscape Specialist Certificate from George Washington University\, is a certified member of the Virginia Society of Landscape Designers (VSLD)\, and a Virginia Master Gardener. An award-winning designer\, Peggy’s landscapes have been on tour during Historic Garden Week of Virginia\, Ford’s Colony Garden Tours and several local Parade of Homes. They have been featured in newspapers\, magazines\, and Southern Living Magazine. She is a frequent speaker at garden clubs\, horticultural events\, and Virginia Master Gardener Training. \nThis program will be held at the James City County Recreation Center\, 5301 Longhill Road\, Williamsburg\, Meeting Rooms B & C. Due to the larger room size which will accommodate all of our partipants\, it is no longer necessary to register. \nMust be 18 years or older to attend. This program is free\, but donations are welcomed to support the garden operations.

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to identify the Monarch butterfly by its specialized anatomy and explore its fascinating life cycle. By gathering more information about the Monarch’s habitat needs\, you will be able to draw this marvelous butterfly to your yard using native plants.  Experience the Monarch butterfly’s full life cycle by learning the science behind its migration. \nAbout our speakers: \nKaren and Steve McCurdy have been active members and volunteers of the Butterfly Society of  Virginia since moving to Virginia Beach in 2003 and have served jointly on the BSV Board since 2009\, currently as Co-Presidents. They have also served as docents at NBG’s native butterfly house since 2010. They became Certified Virginia Master Naturalists in 2016 and have been active in the Tidewater Chapter since then.  In 2023\, they accepted the invitation by Dr. Chip Taylor\, Director of Monarch Watch\, to serve as Monarch Conservation Specialists. \nThis program will be held at the James City County Recreation Center\, 5301 Longhill Road\, Williamsburg\, Meeting Rooms B & C.
